Cortijo Nuevo

Located on the COSTA TROPICAL on the Southern coastline of Spain, at the Eastern end of the famous COSTA DEL SOL find Cortijo Nuevo.  A lovely self-catering holiday base…

This stretch of coastline takes its name from the special sub-tropical micro climate, which allows for the cultivation of exotic fruits and crops. Avocados, mangoes, loquats, pomegranates, bananas and sugar cane grow in abundance, terraced land slightly inland support citrus fruits, olives, chesnuts and almonds.

Agriculture and fishing life, still more important than tourism to the local economy.

The local area does not have the franatic appeal of nearby Fuengirola and Torremolinos or the wealth and glamour of Marbella or Puerto Banus.  But, if you are after a holiday with plenty of activities and a taste of Traditional Andalucian life – then you have chosen well!

Instead of crowded beaches, British pubs and mass tourism, the lovely COSTA TROPICAL is made up of cliffs, coves, old watchtowers, fortresses and numerous tapas bars. Just alongside many beaches find invernaderos, large plastic covered greenhouses, (typical to the area) – usually heaving with cucumbers, peppers and tomatoes – rather than row upon row of apartments and holiday homes.

This tropical coastline is protected from the harsh Northern Winters by the Sierras Lújar and Contraviesa mountain ranges, backed up by the mighty Sierra Nevadas. As gentle warm winds blow across from North Africa, plus the warmth of the Mediterranean sea, combining to create this unique micro-climate found only in this area of Andalucia.  Experience more than 320 days of sunshine annualy and average temperatures of 23ºc – warning much cooler inland at altitude around La Alpujarra, Órgiva especially after sundown!

Cliche, but you can actively ski in the Sierra Nevadas (November/April) before lunch, then relax on a deserted beach sampling fresh tapas – all on the same day!

Don’t hesitate, discover a different Spain – Fly into MALAGA, ALMERIA or GRANADA airports – all convenient for the Costa Tropical.

It is really easy to get to Southern Spain – and here a few useful links to help you plan your journey.

The Costa Tropical probably enjoys the best climate in Mainland Europe. Because of this, the area offers not just Summertime getaways – but is ideal for Winter breaks too.  Both Casa Pequeña and El Apartamento are  available for Monthly Winter lets (November/February).  This has proved to be an extremely popular option for writers, painters, retired people, househunters and generally those who do not wish to endure the grim Winters of Northern Europe or Americas.  Do contact us as soon as possible if you would like to avail yourselves of this offer, as places do go quickly. Winter is a refreshingly different experience on the Costa Tropical (Granada Coast)… with golden sunny days, usually pleasant enough to lunch in the gardens, followed by cooler evenings. Curl up in cosy surroundings with a glass of Rioja, free Wi-Fi and satellite television – what more could you ask for!?

Me, (Patrick), the resident British owner lives on site in the main Cortijo along with pet dog, Hector (you can see as little or as much of him as you like – he is good around people & children).  Normally, I am on hand to welcome you with the keys, answer any questions and to help in any way to make your stay enjoyable.  Letting for many years now and offering discreet help, always respecting your holiday privacy.
